Richardson is home to the University of Texas at Dallas, or UTD; a major public research institution that is also part of the University of Texas System.  UTD faculty include U.S. National Acedemies members, Nobel Prize winners and other industry authorities.  Some of the more prominent academic and research areas at UT Dallas include the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.  UTD has a close relationship with many high technology companies, both established and startup, that reside in Richardson. The close proximity of both UTD as a major source of academic talent and many high tech companies calling Richardson home demonstrates the city's growing ecosystem of talent, technology and entrepreneurship.
